It's like, the last lap of the race and I should finish it well to get the checkered flag...haha. Finance paper is the biggest mountain that I gotta conquer. Sometimes I get frustrated about it, sometimes stressed that I might flunk it. But I decided that I shouldn't let it get to me.

I'm thankful of this opportunity given by my parents, for me to pursue my studies. So I gotta give my all. But I ain't gonna stop here, after I grad;)

Ytd I contributed a sum of money to the Singapore Sports Council.

The weather was perfect for a swim. I didn't mind the blistering hot weather as I was really looking fwd to getting into the pool!

I decided to go swimming and L came along cos he had the day off. Upon arrival, I dropped $2 in the machines and 'CLANK', the 2 cards comes out. I walked in and realised that the entire pool was empty! I was so glad! ;)

BUT, the fact is, the empty pool was only half-filled, meaning it was CLOSED! AND the Olympic-sized pool was filled with an entire school of kids!

Yeahh, we just sat there, drank milo and headed out after 5mins.

I was..........

trying to be thankful still. Haha.

Been busy with SFC stuff. I am thankful for how this ministry has been growing, growing and GROWING. I pray that God will use us, use them mightily and touch lives through this ministry.

Something random. What I really like about taking planes is the moment when the engine accelarates and heads up into the sky. The pressure compresses your head a little, and smaller planes would dive up and down a little in the air. Bigger planes like the A380 wouldn't. But I havent taken that before. The adrenaline, is like no other. Another thing, turbulence over the South China Sea is unexpected and constant. Haha,thats what I like about flying ;)

Real Rugby
It was my first time at a rugby game. All i watched before, were toned, muscular men running around, shoving other men on TV.
The team i watched and supported were All Blacks. Wah, they're REALLY good!

haha,seems a little quiet here.

my day was spent at vivo city with bethia and daniel wong. my plan was to get open sunday prizes and i did! ;) my initial plan was to go alone too but manage to find company in the end. we walked alot, getting stuff for people all over the way. thanks guys, for today.

Moffat picked up and caught up with the rest during games, under the leadership of Mr Anthony Leow. Haha.
Team devotions were the only time when we got down, dig into God's Word and be serious. From this camp, i got to know more youths like Tammy and the p6-ers too.

Nope, i'm selling no shoes. These are boots, made for the field.

A week ago, someone asked me what i wanted for my bday. I said maybe a pair of boots but i answered myself, saying it wasn't a need cos i don't need a pair of boots to play touch rugby. Haha,the person agreed and i thought i wouldn't get a pair of boots anytime soon. And the only way i could get one, was to earn it =)

guess what! i received this pair a few days later. man. it was a great big surprise for me. when i got this pair from a bunch of loving and thoughtful people, it felt like a dream-come-true kind of feeling! =D

the past 2 weeks has been the busiest. project meetings in the morning, lessons in the afternoon. the moment i get home, i start doing work, clearing up the mess i left behind in the morning, spend time with my mum before she flies off etc. besides all that, i'm also way behind schedule in my study plan. haha. BUT i'm really thankful that He sustained, His love for me pushed me on.

everyday, i'm face battles inside of me. i get tired and a prayer seems like the only thing i can do. in due time, i know He'll reveal why.

the cost of being committed to Jesus is high and i'm more than willing to stay on this path.

I've taken a step, to lay down a budget and cap my expenses at a limit. Like a solid wall, not going out of what I have established. I hope this passage speaks to you just as it has to me ;)

A lot could happen over the next few years. It's important for you to have your finances in a healthy state. God could call you to the mission field or to study further or to help the needy. Perhaps you will start a family.

I've been thinking a lot about the essay that I need to hand up 8 days from now. The word that appears in mind is 'inadequate'. I pray that the joy that I have shall be my strength even as the workload becomes heavier and project deadlines stirs up fear. Fear of not being able to do well, that the work is difficult and not being able to complete it on time.

Sum it all up, I just want to focus on the things God has called me to. No more or no less.

And I realised that when you're in a rough patch, you wouldn't make a statement to others that you're in a rough patch. As in, you wouldn't even think of that you're in a rough patch. It struck me when a close friend encouraged and told me that it's been an eventful year for me.

Only then, I looked back and marvel at how God sustained. Maybe it's just a personality trait ;)

Or our hearts are so trained in holding on to what's true and unfailing.

i just got home from cwp. a walk around cwp with joanne,ducky,wan,sam and cynthia. the project guidelines said that we are to choose a shopping mall and then a retail shop within the mall. yup, we get to shop. but there's still the statistical, quantitative research...blah blah blah parts that we hv to complete. we went Aussino, S&K, Outfitters Girls'...

our final decision: Kiddy Palace

happiness' price tag

i read this article last night which reinforces the mini lessons that i have learnt and observed thru the whole of this week. to begin with, the author starts by saying we are living in a selfish and self-absorbed culture. It's a tragic scenerio to see people spend buckets of money to give themselves grins. Yet material abundance hasn't made anyone happier. More stuff doesn't translate into happier people. Ironically, the more we have, the more we want. The evidence is clear in our own lives when our focus gets off the Lord.

If you really want to be happy and satisfied, one thing we can do is to die to self and live for Christ.
Jesus gives a little gardening lesson in John 12:24, " Unless a grain of wheat falls into the earth and dies, it remains alone; but if it dies, it bears much fruit."
A seed has to die before a plant grows. We don't produce godly fruit in our lives unless we die to our own goals, dreams, desires and ambitions.

I want to live my life, in the Light of His Word everyday...also giving my all to Him, especially my financial possessions. I was unaware of the process of growing a seed until now... The Bible becomes so alive to me when God uses illustrations with nature.
I have never been a big fan of birds. Pigeons, sparrows, mynas, parrots....bleah. After reading this article, it also struck me that I should appreciate all that the Lord has made. Everything in this world.
In another passage, God said that he supplies abundantly even to sparrows. I was thinking, if God didn't create sparrows, didn't use the illustration on sparrows...would I have understood it better? Don't think so,haha. In Corrine ten Boom's book (The Hiding Place), she thanked God for the fleas that bit her in her prison cell. She understood that even though she doesn't understand why she faced such hardship and persecution, she trusts with all her heart that God knows. and He will reveal it to her in His perfect timing, "giving her her ticket, before she boards the train" After that prayer, God used those blood-sucking fleas to keep the prison officers away from them as a form of protection!

Thank you Lord, for the birds in this world. The different kinds You have made =)

school's starting in a week's time. which also means work's gonna end in a week! i'm excited and i'm so gonna join a CCA! cos i miss having one.

we had a combined CG session today and it was really nice, seeing all of them interact with one another. so much they hv grown up!

a few updates ;)

1. i'm starting to love the game of basketball and starting to get it (finally.). haha. the company on court helps too...esp that goose! she never fails to laugh and giggle at the mistakes i make and probably still make. i love the way sports draws people together. the fellowship that starts. the new people that we meet each time we play. sometimes they may not be the people that i would PREFER to play with. For example, i almost went crazy with a bunch of sec sch guys who used vulgarities like running water. one of them bounced my ball in between his legs etc. yah, these are the things that would make me arrggghhh. after that game, i asked myself if i would react in the same way at a church-planned sports event. The answer to myself is,"No, I shouldn't. And I don't want to" Not just win the game but win people to Christ. I am bound to feel something if someone's action is not justifiable and i have to learn to channel these feelings to the right channels. I may not learn it quick but I'll try hard. When we are faithless, God is still faithful. Reality check;) for a captain.

2. with struggles, one can grow and gain perspective abt living a life that glorifies. character matters; who you are when no one's looking.

3. love always protects, trusts, hopes and perseveres. learning to to love them all the same

4. i'm starting work next tuesday. it'll be a good learning experience for me. when God opens a door, walk thru it. i had a gd conversation on how being back in sch is still the best. how being at this age, we just really miss those days. when there's lesser things to worry abt. at work...there's expectations. expectations that are sometimes unspoken. sch, things were much more simpler. i'm really looking fwd to sch in Aug (if the letter's gonna come,haha). it feels kind of weird being 20. wanting to break free and be independent. but just can't ;)

I was down with gastric the past week, not being able to consume full meal at all. After I got sick, it was my desktop's turn to fall 'sick'. Farand reformatted and I helped a lil too. I think lots of my documents were lost in the process...trying not to think abt it. Heh, I guess you'll never know how it feels to lose something when you really lose it. And then ps.shern fell sick too (same sickness as me) I even shared abit of my medicine with him...cos he was in a bad shape. On Friday, Kalley was unwell too. He suffered a muscle sprain and was sent to the animal hospital. I really hope he gets well really soon! so i can play with him and ka jiao him again. He's been limping and sleeping alot. Everyone in the family right now are so protective over Kalley. "Where's Kalley?" "Eh,don't disturb him leh. He's in pain" Farand even switches on the living room lights just for him...He's blessed man ;)

I had a really really gd time at PLMGS last night. Laughing, giggling with val, singing songs & eating M&Ms minis for the first time. The aftermath? More laughs with both of them today and a sore throat. I think its great to be sent to a Christian school...it's just so different. A disciplined and loving environment where your gifts are encouraged to be used for the glory of God. I think thats beautiful.

During 11am service today, God reminded me of the importance of praying together in ministeries, with people running alongside you. Having that same heart, that same passion...is needed. Having that time to slow down and reflect...is important. As well as to be able to work together. No other mix. For the current CG I'm in, I believe it took lots of time and prayers to gel so many leaders tog. Thank You Jesus ;) for them. Thank You that You're gonna work in us again

For now, it's time to stock-take ;)

i think HKG's alot like Japan. the technology that they've accepted,the ways they have improved,the education that has picked up for their people, their media and way of life. they speak english, chinese and cantonese. i feel ashamed of myself, really. heh heh ;) i survived the 5days with little cantonese and spent lots of time with my mum. i missed everyone too! i missed my saturday!

its scary how HKG has changed the last 9 years. and i'm impressed as well. it kind of reminded me my Christian walk should be like that too... we can be busy with stuff. our 'important', first priority stuff. but don't forget to look around, slow down and be still...before going again. don't forget the basics ;)

more pictures of kalley. he's such an attention-seeker but adorable still. he collasped onto my mum's lap, refusing to get up. haha. my cat makes me wanna get home earlier at times...he doesn't expect much from me. expectations between us are so simple. all i have to do, is to meet his needs when he's hungry, in need of attention just stroke him on his head. bored and whiny? i'll bring him for a walk at the corridor. he's really precious to me and i learnt to cherish him more after the death of my other cat.

human expectations are sooo much more complicating and sometimes i keep myself from expecting anything.

7 points to keep in mind
1. Be Present
After much obsessing, the key I've found is to enjoy the present and not allow one part of your life to determine the rest of it. When I fully concentrate on the present, I'm busy enjoying the people I'm with, my hobbies, a good book, good food. I find I spend very little time missing anything. The Bible tells us to think on things that are true, noble, right, pure, lovely, admirable, and excellent (Philippians 4:8). When we're present doing this, we can't help but be content.Gilaine

2. Don't Go It Alone
It's so hard to not let your thoughts hold you captive. It's easier if the situation is blatantly sinful—you know you shouldn't. But when you're waiting on that someone to call …
My advice? First, ask for the Holy Spirit to help. I try to make sure I'm never doing anything out of sheer willpower. So ask for help from the Helper.
From there, force your mind to focus on something else. Use the opportunity to clean, exercise, visit someone who needs cheering up, or better yet, spend time in the Word. Set your mind on things above, not on the telephone!
My guy friends tell me one big turn-off is a woman who checks in with them too much. And frankly, as exciting as it is when you first discover that someone you like likes you back, it's a major trap to put your focus on that one individual. So keep the Lord as the focus of your life from the start, and you'll avoid major pitfalls later.Danielle

3. Gain Perspective
First, I take a breath and try to realize this isn't life and death. I get moving and stop waiting for the shoe to drop. No mail? Still waiting for "the call"? I go work out, call a friend, take in a movie, or do something constructive. I try to replace unwanted thoughts with others I know will benefit me. And I realize people do have other things going on in their lives that may keep them away from things they'd like to do … like calling.David

4. Take It to the Cross
I have obsessive-compulsive tendencies, and God revealed to me a number of months ago that he can heal me. He gave me 2 Corinthians 10:5 as kind of a theme verse: "We demolish arguments and every pretension that sets itself up against the knowledge of God, and we take captive every thought to make it obedient to Christ."
Initially, I couldn't figure out how one might take every thought captive to Christ. After praying about what that looks like, God showed me what to do. I'm a very imaginative person and tend to visualize a lot. So I mentally write down whatever I'm obsessing about, then I take that paper, mentally, to a visualized cross and I nail it there and walk away. God always steps in and takes the thought. I don't know what he does or how he does it, but it usually takes days for one of those thoughts to come back to me again.Kristine

5. Just Breathe
I attach some short truth or Bible verse to my breathing—intentionally breathing deeply with a thought that will interrupt the obsessive thinking and begin to break those chains. For example, I might breathe in thinking the words "You are my beloved," and breathe out thinking, "On you my favor rests." Several repetitions can refocus me to more productive thoughts, not to mention the fact that good breathing helps relax the body.Diane

6. Ask the Tough Question
I often ask myself this question when I find myself in this situation: "Do I think about Christ this much?" Do I check and see if he has something to say to me? If my answer is "no," then I spend a little more time concentrating on what God has for me. If something is occupying your mind and not leaving room for Christ to dwell there, then it's not healthy.
To change my thoughts, I read a good book and do some soul searching. More often than not, the guy isn't spending near as much time worrying about whether or not he's going to call me. So I don't make myself the prisoner of others' schedule or emotions.Cary

7. Change Your Focus
Trying not to obsess about a relationship in the past often failed me because I was still making my thoughts captive to the relationship. I've learned that my very thought process was the reason why my thoughts remained on the relationship. Here's what I'd say to myself: "I need to get my mind off of this relationship. I'm gonna go [insert task here]." It sounded like a good plan to me at the time.
But what I failed to realize in trying to break away from the preoccupation with the relationship was that I was still thinking about the relationship. "I need to get my mind off of this relationship." In trying to escape from the thoughts, I instead buried myself more into them. No wonder I was all messed up!
For me to take every thought captive and make it obedient to Christ, Jesus must be the One who fills my thoughts. Instead of thinking about relationships with others, I need to think about my relationship with him first. It helps me to ask myself, "What would God think about this?" or "What would Jesus do in this situation?" In thinking about God first, my thoughts immediately become obedient to him. In all I do, even in the seemingly mysterious realm of love, I know that I should strive to put God first. It's not always easy, but it certainly makes things easier.R. W.
